Centering Prayer has never struck me as a dialogue with the Word made Flesh, of conforming ourselves to the divine nature in Him, through Him, and for Him. Its methodology strikes me as a pursuit of feelings and states and not true contemplation.

Hard to say, Teófilo. To the degree the practice conforms to the Cloud of Unknowing, I think it fits your criteria. I follow a different path, but for a larger project I'm trying to gather together Christian practices that appear to have some alignment with Buddhism. It does appear there was something of this at least at the beginning of the Centering Prayer movement.

I’m a tad confused about the antecedents here. What’s *this* that was present in the beginning of the CP movement, the Cloud of Unknowing or the partial alignment with Buddhism that you’re seek to gather?

"This" in that awkward sentence was my supposition that there was a Buddhist connection, possibly nothing more than "we can match what the Buddhist have to offer." Or surpass...
